2005-06 Season
After sitting out the 2004-05 season, J.J. returned to the Mountain Cats’ starting line-up and led the team in assists at 4.1 apg. (111 assists). He also averaged 6.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, while his 33 steals were second on the team and his 17 three-point field goals were third on the team. In 27 games-played, J.J. finished the season shooting 38.8% (59-152) from the field, 32.7% (17-52) from three-point range and 70.0% (42-60) from the free-throw line. J.J. enters the season ranked seventh on the Mountain Cat All-Time Assist List with 273 career assists. Eleven times J.J. led or tied for the team lead in assists and eight times he led or tied for the team lead in steals. Through three seasons at Pitt Johnstown, J.J. has career-highs of 15 points against the University of District of Columbia on 02/19/03 and 15 points against Bloomsburg on 11/30/05. He also recorded a career-high nine rebounds against Columbia Union College on 01/24/04 and eight assists against U.D.C. on 02/17/04.
2003-04 Season
J.J. started 26 games and played in all 27 games for Coach Rukavina. He averaged 5.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. J.J. finished second on the team in assists (96), tied for third in steals (28) and fifth in rebounds (79). He also shot 40.5% (49-121) from the field, 32.6% (14-43) from behind the three-point line and 60.3% (38-63) from the free-throw line. Four times J.J. scored in double-figures, including a season-high 14 points against Columbia Union (MD) College on 02/22/04.
2002-03 Season
J.J. started 16 games and played in all 27 games for the Mountain Cats as a freshman in 2002-03. He averaged 4.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. His 66 assists were second on the team and his 24 steals tied him for third. J.J. also led Pitt Johnstown in rebounding three times from his guard position. As a freshman, J.J. posted season-highs of 15 points against the University of District of Columbia on 02/19/03, six rebounds on four separate occasions and six assists against U.D.C on 02/19/03.
At Bethel Park High School
J.J. played for Head Coach Keith Thorsen at Bethel Park High School. As a senior, J.J. averaged 20.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game. He finished with 914 points, including a career-high of 41 points against Baldwin High School. J.J. was also selected to participate in the 2002 Kenny Durett All-Star Game and the 2002 Pittsburgh Hoops Classic All-Star Game. He played the point guard spot as a senior, but he is also capable of playing the two-guard. J.J. shot 46% from three-point range and was regarded as one of the best point guards in the Pittsburgh area. As a junior in high school, he was selected to the All-WPIAL Soccer Team and in 2002 he won the WPIAL Long Jump championship with a jump of 21’5 ½”.
