2003-04 Season
James was the only freshman to dress for the Mountain Cats last season. In 22 games off of Coach Rukavina’s bench, James averaged 2.5 points and 2.8 rebounds. He shot 43.8% (21-48) from the field and 58.3% (14-24) from the free-throw line. He also had 11 steals, nine assists and five blocked shots. In his first season, James recorded highs of 12 points against Glenville State (WV) College on 12/02/03 and nine rebounds against Penn State-McKeesport on 11/15/03. James also scored 11 points in that same game against Penn State-McKeesport.
At Plum High School
James played for Head Coach Ron Richards at Plum High School where he averaged 11 points and seven rebounds per game as a senior. He also helped lead his team to the Sectional Finals in 2003. James played in the Hoops Classic All-Star Game and the Rising Star All-Star Game following his senior year. In addition, he led his AAU team, the Pittsburgh Shockers, in the Maryland Fingertip Tournament by averaging 10 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
