2023-24 Season
In 19 games played with 18 starts as a junior, Ryan Smith was the Mountain Cats’ leading scorer at 13.7 points per game before an injury ended his season. Smith also averaged 4.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. His 24 3-pointers and 80.8 (42-52) free-throw percentage ranked third on the team, and 19 steals were tied for third-best on the team. Smith enters his senior season 179 points sy of becoming Pitt-Johnstown’s 35th 1,000-point scorer.
Smith has single-game highs of 26 points against nationally-ranked West Liberty (WV) on Nov. 17, 2021, 11 rebounds against Clarion on Jan. 15, 2022, and nine assists against Penn State-Schuylkill on Nov. 28, 2022.
2022-23 Season
In 30 games as a sophomore (28 starts) Smith averaged 9.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. His 4.2 rebounds per game and 70 assists both ranked third on the team and his 16 steals were tied for fourth on the team. Smith scored in double figures 16 times,. Grabbed five or more rebounds 12 times, and dished out three or more assists 12 times.
2021-22 Season
Smith, Pitt-Johnstown inaugural recipient of the Male Freshman Athlete of the Year Scholarship, played in all 30 games and made 20 starts as a true freshman. Smith finished as the Mountain Cats’ fourth leading scorer at 9.2 points per game. He also averaged 3.6 rebounds per game, had 31 assists, 19 steals, five blocks, and was third on the team with 34 3-pointer field goals. Smith scored in double figures 15 times in 2021-22.
At Central Dauphin High School
Smith, a four-year letterman in basketball who finished his career with 1,194 points, played for Head coach Wayne Fletcher at Central Dauphin High School where he was named the 2020-21 Mid-Penn Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year.
Smith was a two-time First-Team All-Mid-Penn Commonwealth Conference selection who guided his team to back-to-back conference titles in both 2019-20 and 2020-21.
Smith, also a two-year letterman in soccer, is the son of Dwight and Jennifer Smith of Harrisburg, Pa.
Smith is majoring in Finance.
