2025-26 Season
Vinnie Cugini, a 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic (CSC) All-District selection and a member of the inaugural PSAC Winter Sports Academic All-Conference Team, played in 27 games and made 26 starts as a junior. Cugini was tied for third on the team in scoring at 12.4 points per game, third in rebounding at 3.0 rebounds per game, and tied for third in steals with 35 and 3-point field goals with 28.
Cugini has single-game highs of 24 points against Ashland (OH) on Nov. 23, 2025, 10 rebounds at Kutztown on Dec. 30, 2023, and six assists against Gannon on Jan. 24, 2026.
2024-25 Season
In 26 games-played and 20 starts as a sophomore, Cugini was Pitt-Johnstown’s fourth-leading scorer at 8.8 points per game and averaged 3.2 rebounds per game. His 10 3-pointers were tied for fourth on the team. Cugini also dished out 25 assists, had 18 steals, and blocked one shot. He was named a 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection.
2023-24 Season
Vinnie Cugini played in 27 of Pitt-Johnstown’s 28 games and made eight starts. He averaged 8.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and nearly 1.0 assists per game. Cugini led the Mountain Cats with a 90.2% (46-51) free-throw percentage, shot 47.4% (82-73) from the field, and made 15 steals. He scored in double figures 12 times and had four or more rebounds 11 times.
At Aquinas Academy
Vinnie Cugini, an elite scoring guard for Head Coach George Yokitis at Aquinas Academy, averaged 55.2 ppg. as a senior and 43.7 ppg. for his career and finished his career with 3,189 points on his way to being named PIAA Class A Player of the Year in 2022-23. Cugini’s points per game average led the nation in 2022-23, while his career points total ranks first all time in the WPIAL (District 7). The Western Pennsylvania star led his team to two District 7 Class A playoff berths, including the school’s first ever playoff win vs. Jefferson Morgan High School this past season. He concluded his senior season as a four-year all section honoree, a four-time All-WPIAL Class A choice, and a four-time member of the PIAA All-State team. After wrapping up his historical high school career, Cugini was named the WPIAL Class A Player of the Year by both the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and KDKA-TV. He also participating in the Roundball Classic where he was selected as the Most Valuable Player honors.
Cugini, who also earned one letter in volleyball, is the son of Vince and Brandi Cugini of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Cugini is majoring in Business Finance.
