Liz Flooks enters her third season as an assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Her main responsibilities include being the recruiting coordinator, scouting reports, academic advising and works extensively with the team’s guards. Liz also works with the Athletic Departments as the NCAA Academic Liaison.
The White Plains, N.Y., native had a standout career at NCAA Division I Niagara University where she was a four-year starter and three-year captain.
Flooks, a guard, was named to the MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) All Conference team all four years. As a junior she climbed as high as seventh in the country in three-point field goal percentage at 51.0%. Her sophomore year she finished the season ranked 23rd in the country in free-throw percentage at 83.3%. She finished her illustrious career with 1,210 points, becoming the 21st player in program history to score more than 1,000 points. Her 116 games played are the most in program history.
During her senior year, she led Niagara in scoring (10.7 ppg), rebounding (5.1 rpg), minutes played (32 mpg), three-point field goal percentage (32.4) and free-throw percentage (85.2). She finished 13th in the MAAC in scoring and fifth in three-point field goals made.
Flooks was also a 1,000-point scorer at White Plains High School, where she won three Section I, Class AA championships and played in two New York state championship games.
Before arriving in Johnstown, she returned to White Plains as the head coach of the girl’s basketball team in 2012-2013.
She graduated from Niagara University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and is working toward a master’s degree in special education.
