Former Pitt-Johnstown women’s basketball player Mia Oterson was named assistant women’s basketball coach under Mike Drahos prior to the 2023-2024 season, and remained an assistant coach when D'wan Shackleford-Vickroy took over the reigns of the program prior to the 2024-25 season..
Oterson’s duties include handling various day-to-day aspects within the program, including practice planning, recruiting, game planning, administrative tasks, and other assignments.
Oterson, a member of the Pitt-Johnstown women’s basketball team from 2017- 2020, played in 67 games and made 31 starts, despite her senior season being canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Oterson finished her three-year career averaging 2.2 points, 1.5 rebounds, and nearly one assist in 14 minutes per game.
During her time at Pitt-Johnstown, she served as the women’s basketball Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative for two years and was a member of the Epsilon Omega chapter of Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honor Society, and the Pitt-Johnstown Broadcasting Club.
She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 2021.
Prior to arriving at Pitt-Johnstown, Oterson was serving the Indiana County community at the United Way as the Marketing and Fundraising assistant while also coaching for her hometown high school, Marion Center.
Oterson is a native of Indiana, Pa. and a graduate of Marion Center High School.
