Biography

As a Lady Cat
For the second straight season, Zapf, a 2006-07 Preseason Women’s Division II Bulletin Honorable Mention All-American, proved to be a dominating force for the Lady Cats in the paint by leading the team in rebounding at 8.7 rebounds per game. She was also Pitt Johnstown’s second leading scorer at 14.4 points per game on her way to being a Second Team All-Independent Collegiate Athletic Association Division II Women’s Basketball Team selection.
Along with her success on the court, Jessica, a 2006-07 team captain, continued to excel in the classroom. Her hard work paid off when she was named Third Team ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-District II with a 3.85 overall G.P.A. in Elementary Education.
She finished her junior season ranked 60th in NCAA Division II in Free-Throw Percentage at 82.1% (142-173) and 64th in rebounding at 8.7 rebounds per game.
Jessica’s 82.1% shooting from the free-throw line and 54.2% (123-227) from the field were second only to Samantha Conner’s 82.6% free-throw percentage and 56.3% field goal percentage. She also finished fourth on the team in steals (40) and fifth in assists (36).
Jessica’s 610 career rebounds currently rank 15th on the Lady Cat All-Time Rebounding List. In addition, Jessica will enter her senior season with 806 career points, just 194 points away from becoming Pitt Johnstown’s 29th 1,000-point scorer.
Seven times during the 2005-06 season Jessica led the Lady Cats in scoring, while she led or tied for the team lead in rebounding 18 times. She collected 10 double-doubles in scoring and rebounding and scored in double-figures in 24 of the 27 Pitt Johnstown games. Four times Jessica eclipsed the 20-point mark in a game and 10 times she scored 15 or more points.
Through her first three seasons as a Lady Cat, Jessica is averaging 10.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
Jessica, a 2005 Mountain Cat Tournament All-Tournament Team selection, posted a career-high 17 rebounds against Saint Vincent College on Feb. 10, 2005. She also pulled down 16 rebounds on three other occasions. She poured in a career-high 27 points against West Chester University on Jan. 7, 2005 and 25 points against Indiana University (PA) Jan. 28, 2006.
Jessica is a member of Pi Lambda Theta Education Honor Society. In September 2005, she represented Pitt Johnstown as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in Boston, MA.

At North Hills High School
A four-year letter winner, three-year starter and two-year team captain, Jessica is the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,159 points. She also ranks among the top five in all-time rebounding with 615 rebounds. Some of her other career totals include 315 career assists, 36 three-point field goals, 180 steals and 180 blocked shots. Jessica also holds school records for points in a game with 37 and rebounds in a game with 19.
In 2003, Jessica was selected to play in the Eat’n Park Pennsylvania Hoops Roundball Classic All-Star game. She named Second Team Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Class AAAA and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette All-Section as a senior. Jessica was a two-time Pittsburgh Tribune-Review North Fab Five choice, as well as the Most Valuable Player at 2000 Burrell High School Christmas Tournament. In addition , she earned All-Tournament Team honors at the 2001 Fox Chapel High School Tournament, 2002 New Castle High School Tip-Off Tournament and 2002 Hampton High School Christmas Tournament.
Academically, Jessica was a member of the National Honor Society and ranked 21st
out of 463 in senior class with a 4.03 G.P.A. She was nominated for 2002-03 Chatham College Student-Athlete Award and was recognized for National Student-Athlete Day. Jessica was also the recipient of the 2000 North Hills Excellent Achievement Award.
She was coached by Mark Timko at North Hills High School.
