Biography
At Saltsburg High School
Tamara Blankenship was a four-year starter at Saltsburg High School where she finished her career with 1,534 points, 854 rebounds and 203 assists. Blankenship, the 2008 Indiana Gazette Player of the year, averaged 19 points, 11 rebounds and three assists as a senior on her way to guiding her team to the second round of the PIAA State Playoffs. Blankenship was a two-time All-Heritage Conference selection and a First-Team and Third-Team All-Indiana Gazette choice. She also earned the Heritage Conference Scholar-Athlete Award in 2008. Following her senior season, Blankenship was tabbed an Indiana Optimist All-Star and played in the Big John Riley Classic and the Altoona Basketball Classic All-Star Game.Academically, Blankenship was a member of the National Honor Society and on the High Honor Roll. She was a member the National Society of High School Scholars and Who’s Who Among American High School Students.Blankenship is the daughter of Shawn and Jennifer Blankenship. She was coached by Don Stitt and Tom Lasher at Saltsburg High School.
