Kayla McNamara was named Pitt-Johnstown’s Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach in February of 2023.

McNamara had a unique collegiate soccer career that began at Emerson College. As a Freshman, McNamara – a natural midfielder – started six out of the team's 18 matches, She scored one goal and collected a pair of assists, while helping lead the team to a semifinal berth in the NEWMAC.   As a Sophomore, she started 18 out of 19 matches, scoring one goal and helped guide the team to a spot in the NEWMAC quarterfinals.

After completing her sophomore year at Emerson, McNamara transferred to Clarion University to play for the Clarion Golden Eagles (Penn-West Clarion).

In her first year, as a Junior, due to a shortened season as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic, McNamara started all five season games playing every minute of each match. As a Senior, she was named team captain and went on to start all 17 season matches.

McNamara graduated from Clarion University in 2022, and went on to continue her playing career at Rome City Institute in Rome, Italy. While playing for Rome City Institute, McNamara earned her Master's Degree, trained with several local professional women’s soccer teams, and began honing her coaching skills with several European coaches that were on the Rome City Institute staff.

Prior to her college career, McNamara played for high school powerhouse Saint Thomas Aquinas (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), where she won a State Championship and a National Championship. In addition, she played club soccer with the nationally-recognized club – Sunrise Sting – where she won a State Championship.

McNamara is currently enrolled in the U.S. Soccer Coaching curriculum.

She also currently serves as the Pitt-Johnstown’s Assistant Women’s Track and Field Coach.

McNamara earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management with a Minor in Media from Clarion University in 2022 and earned her Master’s Degree in Sports Management and Coaching from Rome City Institute in 2023.
