After six seasons as an assistant coach women's volleyball coach at Pitt-Johnstown, Justin Haupt joined his wife, Joanna, as co-head coach in 2018, then spent the 2019 season as the team's head coach. In 2022, Haupt returned to Pitt-Johnstown as the volleyball program's interim head coach, before taking over full time coaching duties in 2023.
During his tenure, the Pitt-Johnstown has posted an impressive 218-105 record, including seven NCAA tournament berths and a pair of PSAC Championships. In 13 seasons with the program, he has coached 29 All-PSAC selections, including three Freshmen of the Year Winners, a four-time Defensive Player of the Year, the PSAC Athlete of the Year Winner, and four All-Americans.
In his four full seasons as a head coach, Haupt, the 2023 PSAC West Coach of the Year, is 72-47 overall and 30-38 in the PSAC West. He has guided the Mountain Cats to berths in the NCAA Regional Tournament in 2023, 2024, and 2025 and has been the head coach for 11 Pitt-Johnstown All-PSAC selections.

Justin Haupt, a native of Johnstown, was a First-Team All-District volleyball player at Conemaugh Valley High School.
Haupt served as Conemaugh Valley’s assistant boys’ volleyball coach from 2002-2007 where the Blue Jays won the 2003 District 6 Championship. He also spent five years as a head coach in the Foothills Volleyball Junior Olympic Club and two years as a head coach in the Highlands Volleyball Junior Olympic Club.
Justin graduated from Pitt-Johnstown with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology and is a Professional Engineer in the State of Pennsylvania.
