Aaron Konitzer joined Head Coach Pat Pecora’s wrestling coaching staff midway through the 2016-17 season after spending the previous two seasons working as a graduate assistant coach for St. Cloud State (MN) University’s back-to-back NCAA Division II National Championship teams.
While at St. Cloud State, Konitzer coached 13 All-Americans, and the team finished with a 3.114 overall GPA in 2015-16, good enough for 21st in the country.
Prior to that, Konitzer spent a year teaching Physical Education/Health at Port Washington High School in Wisconsin, and served as the school’s assistant wrestling coach. Four of his wrestlers qualified for the Wisconsin State Tournament. Of those four, one won an individual state championship and another placed third.
Konitzer was a three-year starter and 2012 Academic All-American at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education/Health.
A native of Wisconsin, Konitzer attended Oconto Falls High School and was a four-year starter and a 3-year team captain. He wrapped-up his high school career with a 109-44 overall record.
