Freshman Season (2011-12)
         Sam Hanau took a red-shirt at Central Michigan University.  He placed fifth at both the Cleveland State Open and the Edinboro Open, and sixth at the Eastern Michigan Open in the Freshman/Sophomore Division
 
 
Red-Shirt Freshman Season (2012-13)
         Sam Hanau wrestled at 141 lbs. at Central Michigan and finished with a 20-7 overall record.  Hanau beat Penn State’s Zack Beitz to place third at the National Collegiate Open.  He also won the title at the Eastern Michigan Open in the Freshman/Sophomore Division after defeating Notre Dame’s Maurice Miller.
 
 
Sophomore Season (2013-14)
Hanau transferred to Pitt-Johnstown and joined the Mountain Cats’ starting line-up in January at 141 lbs. and finished with a 16-6 overall record and an 8-1 record in dual meets.  Hanau placed third at the Super Region I Tournament to qualify for the National Tournament.  Of his 16 wins, six came by fall.  Hanau also placed sixth at the Franklin & Marshall Open.
 

Junior Season (2014-15)
Hanau was 25-5 overall and a perfect 12-0 in dual meets on his way to earning a spot on the All-PSAC Team with a third-place finish at the conference championships.  Hanau also qualified for his second consecutive National Tournament by finishing third at the Super Region I Tournament.  His 25 victories, six major decisions, and six falls all led the team, while his 12 dual meet wins tied him for second on the team.

 
High School
Hanau, who wrestled in both Missouri and Michigan in high school, finished his career with a 147-12 overall record...placed three-time in the Top-four in State tournaments...two-time Super Region I Champion in Missouri...2009 Missouri Greco Roman State Champion and  2009 and 2010 Missouri Freestyle runner-up.
