Abby Gearhart began her relationship with Pitt-Johnstown athletics in 2006 as a volleyball student athlete, four-year starter, letter-winner, and team captain. She ranks fifth on the all time dig list (1,344), 8
th in all time sets played (425), and 10
th in all time aces (114). In addition to her accolades as a player, Abby was chosen as one of 23 Division II student athletes to serve as a National SAAC Representative, and was named the institutional and conference NCAA Woman of the Year in 2010. She received the Advisory Board’s service to community award as a student in 2009-10.  A four-year Presidential Scholar, Abby graduated magna cum laude with a dual degree in secondary mathematics education and applied mathematics (2010).
She received her Master’s in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pittsburgh (2012). After teaching and coaching at Conemaugh Township Middle School/High School for six years, she returned to Pitt-Johnstown in November 2018 to follow her passion for working with student-athletes and positively impacting her community. Abby now serves as the Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator. She is also a staff Advisor for Habitat for Humanity and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). She received the President’s Staff Award for Excellence in Service to Community in 2023-24. She is also the author of the book, Miracle Grow (2021).
