After spending three seasons as an Assistant Women’s Coach at Division I Saint Francis University, Kile Zeller was named Pitt-Johnstown’s first ever head men’s and women’s swimming coach in the spring of 2025 and was tasked with beginning the newly formed varsity program.
“I gained a lot of valuable experience at the collegiate level during my time as an assistant coach,” Zeller said. “Now I’m super excited to take the next step as a head coach and begin building a program from scratch. I’m honored and blessed to be a part of The Mountain Cat Family!”
Zeller brings a wealth of experience to Pitt-Johnstown.
In its inaugural season in 2025-26, Zeller produced a pair of PSAC Championships qualifiers in Mark DiPalma and Nicole Scott.
Zeller, a 1995 State Champion and All-American at Lovett High School in Atlanta, Georgia, began his collegiate swimming career at the University of Kentucky and scored points at the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championships as a freshman in 1996.
The following year, Zeller transferred to Florida State University where the team placed ninth at the NCAA Championships and was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic Team.
A member of USA Swimming since 1981, graduated from the University of Georgia in 2004.
Zeller began his coaching career in 1999 with USA Swimming. He was named the 2009 Age Group Coach of the Year in North Carolina after producing multiple sectional record holders and individual swimmers ranked in the Top-3 nationally.
The former owner and CEO of Smoky Mountain Aquatic Club in Waynesville, NC was named First Sport Development Director of South Carolina Swimming in 2016 where he helped to create the fastest growing swimming state in the nation. South Carolina Swimming grew at over double the national average and produced the second highest percentage of Olympic Trials Qualifiers in the country.
In addition, Zeller manages the Pitt-Johnstown Aquatic Center where he is responsible for public open swim and swim lessons.
