th-ranked Indiana University (PA) used a 25-11 run over the final 14 minutes of the first half to build a 12-point halftime advantage on its way to dealing Pitt-Johnstown a 76-62 road loss in the Mountain Cats' inaugural game as members of the PSAC.Â
Ian Vescovi had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Mountain Cat, now 2-1 overall and 0-1 in conference-play.

Bill Luther combined to score the first 11 Mountain Cat points to give Pitt-Johnstown a slim 11-9 lead five minutes into the game, but IUP responded with 11 straight points of its own to go up 20-11 on a Devon Cottrell basket midway through the half.

Paul Weatherly connected on a pair of 3-pointers to narrow the Pitt-Johnstown deficit to 22-17 at 5:22.

However, the Crimson Hawks pushed it out to 31-17 on a Marcel Souberbeille 3-pointer with just over three minute, before IUP took a 34-22 halftime advantage into the locker room.

IUP extended its lead to 18 at 59-41 on two Mathis Keita's free-throws with 8:27 to play.

Back-to-back 3-pointers from Weatherly and Luther and a basket by
Andrew Cressler closed a 9-0 Mountain Cat run to get Pitt-Johnstown to within 10 with 5:49 to play, but that's as close as it would get.

Along with Vescovi's double-double, Pitt-Johnstown also got 15 points from Cressler and 10 points and six rebounds from Luther. Weather added nine points in the loss.

Pitt-Johnstown was held to 41.9% (26-62) shooting from the field and just 4-20 from 3-point range, while the Crimson Hawks, who held a 40-29 advantage on the glass, finished the night shooting 44.1% (26-59) from the floor and 11-25 from behind the 3-point line. The Mountain Cats hit 6-8 from the free-throw line. IUP was 13-19 from the charity stripe.

Souberbielle's game-high 26 points and Keita's 24 points and seven rebounds led IUP, which improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC.

The Mountain Cats return home to host their first PSAC doubleheader with the Lady Cats against Edinboro University on Saturday. The Lady Cats will tip-off at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center, with the men's game to follow at 3 p.m.
