Baseball Opens Season With 17-7 Win Over Felician

After postponing three doubleheaders due to weather, Head Coach Todd Williams and the Mountain Cat baseball team opened the 2007 season with a 17-7 victory over Felician (NJ) College Sunday evening in for Pierce, FL. Pitt Johnstown banged out 15 hits and sophomore right hander Chuck Boring (Dilltown, Pa.) struck out 10 in five innings to earn the win.
Boring struck out 10 Felician hitters and surrendered just hits and a pair of runs in five innings of work to collect the win.
Offensively, junior shortstop Chris Turka (Natrona heights, Pa.) went 4-for-6 wtih three doubles and five runs, and senior outfielder Adam Plummer (Bellwood, Pa.) was 3-for-6 with two runs scored. Senior catcher Paul Pentz (Johnstown, Pa.) belted a three-run homerun, while sophomore outfielder Matt Hanley (Delmont, Pa.) and senior first baseman Bill Colosimo (Summerhill, Pa.) both had three hits. Hanley also scored four runs, while Colosimo drove in three runs in the lopsided win.
Pitt Johnstown continues its Spring Trip in Fort Pierce, FL with a double header against Northwood (MI) University on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
