03/10/2006

The Mountain Cat baseball team wrapped up the 2006 Spring Trip to Fort Pierce, FL with a doubleheader split against Felician (NJ) College on Friday. After dropping the opener, 10-1, Pitt Johnstown rebounded with a 5-4 win in game two. The Mountain Cats travel home with an 8-2 record in Florida and a 9-4 overall record to start the year.
After dropping game one, senior first baseman Casey Long (Johnstown, Pa.) went 2-for-3, including a two-run homerun in the nightcap to lead Pitt Johnstown to the win. Freshman outfielder Matt Hanley (Delmont, Pa.) drove in the game-winning RBI with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Sophomore right hander David Huey (Glen Campbell, Pa.) pitched six innings for the win, before giving way to freshman Garrett Pampiks (Pine, Pa.), who threw one scoreless inning to pick-up the save.
The Mountain Cats travel to Salem International (WV) University on Wednesday for a doubleheader at 3:00 p.m.
