Pat Pecora Get Win #499 as #8 Wrestlers Shutout Anderson on Senior Night

The eighth-ranked Mountain Cat wrestlers used three early falls in a 52-0 Senior Night shutout over Anderson (S.C.) University to give Head Coach Pat Pecora his NCAA Division II record 499th career win on Saturday in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 11-3 on the year.
It was all Mountain Cats from start to finish. Dave Fogle (Summerhill, Pa.) opened things up with an 8-0 major decision over Cory Monteforte at 125 lbs., before three straight Pitt-Johnstown falls made it 22-0.
Doug Maiorana (Lewisburg, Pa.) pinned Keenan Simmons at 4:06 at 133 lbs. and fifth-ranked Jack Bachman (Greensburg, Pa.) scored a fall over Ian Harper at 1:21 at 141 lbs., before Nathan Link (Cresson, Pa.) pinned Melchisedac Lavergne at 2:20 in the 149-lb. bout.
The Mountain Cats kept it going with Zach Lundgren's (DuBois, Pa.) 12-2 major decision over Nick Giuliette at 157 lbs.
At 165 lbs., Myers Miller (Bolivar, Pa.) won a 7-2 win over Dalton Harper, and Travis McKillop (Lower Burrell, Pa.) followed with an 18-2 technical fall at 4:49 over Bryan Glace at 174 lbs. to increase the lead to 34-0.
Then, sandwiched between forfeit wins at 184 lbs. and heavyweight, Jon Moore (Leechburg, Pa.) pinned Jordan Denmark at 1:41 at 197 lbs. to close out the match.
In his 36-year tenure at Pitt-Johnstown, Coach Pecora, who also ranks sixth on the all-time list of all divisions, has led the Mountain Cats to Division II National Championships in 2006 and 2009 and 20 NCAA Regional titles. He has coached 129 All-Americans, 10 individual champions, and 90 NWCA All-Academic Wrestling Team selections.
Prior to the match, Pitt-Johnstown recognized this year's seniors...Greg Grimes (HWT.) (Ebensburg, Pa.), Nathan Link (149 lbs.) (Cresson, Pa.), Zach Lundgren (157 lbs.) (DuBois, Pa.), Doug Maiorana (133 lbs.) (Lewisburg, Pa.), Myers Miller (157/165 lbs.) (Bolivar, Pa.), and Jon Moore (197 lbs.) (Leechburg, Pa.).
Coach Pecora will go after win #500 when the Mountain Cats wrap-up the regular season at Shippensburg University on Tuesday. Pitt-Johnstown will then before travel to UNC-Pembroke for the 2012 Super Region I Tournament on February 24-25 and to the University of Colorado-Pueblo for the 2012 NCAA Division II National Championships on March 9-10.
