Lady Cats Take Care of Salem International, 67-34

Andrea Dalton (Washington, Pa.) scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds to help the Lady Cat basketball team shake-off a sluggish start and lead Pitt-Johnstown to a 67-34 WVIAC victory over Salem International (WV) University, Thursday night in the Sports Center. The Lady Cats made it four straight wins and improved to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Pitt-Johnstown climbed out to a 17-5 lead on Kelly Goode's (Pleasant Plain, OH) three-pointer 8:26 into the game.
Salem International cut it to 17-12 on a three-pointer by Flora Amayo at the 8:33 mark, but Sheena Aden's (Sandy Lake, Pa.) lay-up and free-throw capped a 10-0 Lady Cat run to increase the lead to 27-12.
Kayla Loughner's (Brinklow, MD) three-pointer with :56 left in the half pushed the lead to 17 points, before Pitt-Johnstown took a 32-17 halftime lead.
Monae Baker's (Bushkill, Pa.) basket 4:30 into the second half gave the Lady Cats a 45-23 lead. The Tigers answered with four straight points from Brieanna Taylor to pull within 45-27 two minutes later, but it never got any closer.
The Lady Cats continued to extend the lead the rest of the way, before posting the 33-point win.
Dalton led all scorers with 16 points on 7-12 shooting and 2-2- from the free-throw line. Goode finished with 11 points, including three-three-pointers, while Aden rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points, four rebounds and seven assists. Baker added nine points and six rebounds. Qiuana Brown (Monroeville, Pa.) pulled down three rebounds and tied Aden for game-high is assists with seven.
Amayo and Taylor scored 12 and 11 points, respectively for Salem International. Briana Terry had a game-high nine rebounds for the Tigers, who fell to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats will break for the finals and the holiday season before opening the second semester with a WVIAC game at the University of Charleston (WV) on January 9. Pitt-Johnstown will play its next home game on Saturday, January 16 against Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College as part of a WVIAC doubleheader with the Mountain Cats. The Lady Cats will tip-off at 1 p.m., followed by the men's game at 3 p.m.
