#7-Seeded Lady Cats Suffer 75-59 Loss To #3-Seeded IUP in Semifinals of East Regional Tournament

Head Coach Jodi Gault's #7-seeded Lady Cats' season came to an end Saturday night with a 75-59 loss to #3-seeded Indiana University (PA) in the Semifinals of the 2007 NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament in Glenville, WV. Pitt Johnstown finshed the year with a 21-8 record.
Senior forward Jami Oaks (South Fork, Pa.) led the Lady Cats with a team high of 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Oaks was 6-16 from the field with four three-pointers and four assists. Senior forward Jessica Zapf (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and sophomore guard Lindsay Cale (Hummelstown, Pa.) each scored 14 points, shooting 6-13 and 7-14 from the field, respectively. Zapf also pulled down six rebounds, while red-shirt sophomore forward Krista Britcher (Johnstown, Pa.) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and senior guard Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.) dished out four assists for the Lady Cats.
Zapf finished her college career ranked fourth on the Lady Cat All-Time Rebonding List with 858 rebounds and 13th on the All-Time Scoring List with 1,325 points. Krischer ended with 1,167 career points, leaving her 20th on the All-Time Scoring List.
The Crimson Hawks came out of the gates on a 10-2 run. Pitt Johnstown battled back to cut the score to 15-10 with 14:40 left in the half, but IUP answered with a 23-6 run to take a 38-16 halftime lead. The Crimson Hawks extended their lead to as much as 65-32 in the second half, before going on to the 16-point victory and snapping their eight game losing streak to the Lady Cats.
Pitt Johnstown's offense struggled by shooting 34.7% (25-72) from the field and 23.5% (4-17) from three-point range, while IUP finished 32-70 (45.7%) from the field and 8-22 (36.4%) from behind the three-point line. Neither team visited the free-throw line often in the game. The Lady Cats were just 5-8 (62.5%), and the Crimson Hawks shot 75.0% (3-4) from the free-throw line.
Katie Glaws led IUP with a game-high 20 points. Jahzinga Tracey (17 points), Lauren Fisher (14 points) and Staci Heberling (10 points) rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Crimson Hawks. Tracey and Heberling pulled down eight and seven rebounds, respectively for IUP, which improved to 24-8.
