Lady Cats Defeat Seton Hill, 73-67, in Sports Center

Lindsay Cale (Hummelstown, Pa.) poured in a career-high 30 points and freshman Sheena Aden (Sandy Lake, Pa.) added a career-high 24 points to lead Head Coach Sasha Palmer's Lady Cat basketball team to a, 73-67, victory over Seton Hill in WVIAC play, Thursday evening in the Sports Center. With the win, Pitt Johnstown avenged a loss earlier in the season to the Griffins and improved to 4-9 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
Pitt Johnstown erased an early six-point deficit and built their own nine-point lead with 2:24 to play in the first half, before taking a, 30-26, halftime lead. Seton Hill came out in the second half and built another six-point lead, but the Lady Cats battled back to regain the lead, 61-60, with 3:59 to play. Pitt Johnstown never gave up the lead and held on for their second straight victory.
Cale ended the night shooting 8-15 from the field and 4-6 from behind the three-point line. In addition, Cale, who leads NCAA Division II in free-throw percentage, went 10-10 from the free-throw line. Aden connected on 9-12 from the field, 1-1 from three-point range and 5-6 from the free-throw line for her 24 points. Cale and Aden also grabbed six rebounds apiece. Coach Palmer also got 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds from Jill Maurer (Johnstown, Pa.) and seven points and four rebounds from Krista Britcher (Johnstown, Pa.).
The Lady Cats shot a season-best 49.0% (25-51) from the field and 41.2% (7-17) from three-point range. As a team, Pitt Johnstown leads the country in free-throw percentage, and it showed, as the Lady Cats made 16-18 (88.9%) from the free-throw line. Pitt Johnstown held the Griffins to 38.4% (28-73) shooting for the game and 6-21 (28.6%) from three-point range. The Lady Cats also out rebounded Seton Hill 43-30 for the game.
Orit Farchi's 20 points on 8-13 shooting and game-high six assists led Seton Hill. Katie Lintner chipped in 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds, and Jenna Petrini tallied 10 points in a losing cause for the Griffins, now 6-7 overall and 2-4 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats travel to the University of Charleston (WV) for a WVIAC game on Saturday, before returning home to begin a three-game home stand starting with Bluefield State (WV) College as part of a doubleheader with the Mountain Cats on Thursday. The Lady Cats will tip-off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
