Seton Hill Snaps Lady Cat Win Streak, 71-50

Seton Hill University, ranked No. 7 in the Atlantic Region, used a 24-7 run over a 12-minute span of the second half to build a 22-point lead en route to a 71-50 victory over the Lady Cats, Saturday afternoon. Andrea Dalton (Washington, Pa.) led Pitt-Johnstown, which had its six-game winning streak snapped and slipped to 15-10 overall and 12-8 in the WVIAC, with 17 points and nine rebounds.
Seton Hill scored the first six points of the game, but Monae Baker (Bushkill, Pa.) tallied six of the Lady Cats' next eight to cut the deficit to 10-8 at the 13:39 mark.
Pitt-Johnstown eventually tied it at 19 on Maria Montini's (Irwin, Pa.) three-pointer from the corner at 9:12.
However, the Lady Griffins used a 13-2 run over the next three minutes, and outscored the Lady Cats 17-7 the rest of the way to build a 10-point halftime lead. Jordan Burkes connected on a three-pointer to give Seton Hill a 32-21 lead with with six minutes left. Dalton answered with a three-pointer of her own to get the Lady Cats to within eight on the next possession. The Lady Griffins took their largest lead of the half at 36-24 on Orit Farchi's lay-up at 5:49, before Baker scored inside to cut the deficit to 36-26 at the break.
The Lady Cats cut it back to seven 1:22 into the half on Qiuana Brown's (Monroeville, Pa.) jumper, but Seton Hill put the game away by outscoring Pitt-Johnstown 24-7 over the next 11:42 to extend the lead to 62-38 on Katie Lintner's break-away lay-up at .
Pitt-Johnstown got it down to 62-43 on Sheena Aden's (Sandy Lake, Pa.) bucket at 6:13, but Seton Hill cruised to a 21-point victory.
Pitt-Johnstown shot 40% from the field, but just 4-18 from three-point range and 2-6 from the free-throw line. Seton Hill, which ourebounded the Lady Cats 40-30, ended the day shooting 42.9% from the field and 7-14 from behind the three-point line. The Lady Griffins also hit 16-21 from the charity stripe.
Dalton led the Lady Cats with 17 points on 8-17 shooting. Dalton also grabbed nine rebounds, while Baker chipped in 13 points and four rebounds. Brown and Aden had seven points apiece, and Montini had six points on a pair of three-pointers.
With her seven points against Seton Hill, Aden to move into 24th-place on the Lady Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,059 points. She is now 76 points away from Carol Mumma (1978-82) for 23rd-place. Aden also ranks 29th on the All-Time Rebounding List with 404, 13 shy of Janet Hess (1991-95) for 28th-place.
Burkes led all scorers with 22 points and eight rebounds. Haitz had 13 points and nine rebounds and Lintner finished with 12 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Griffins, who made it 10 straight wins and improved to 19-6 overall and 15-5 in the WVIAC.
Pitt-Johnstown will celebrate Senior Night with a conference doubleheader against Fairmont State (WV) University on Tuesday with the women's game beginning at 5:30 in the Sports Center, before wrapping up the regular season at Shepherd (WV) University on Saturday.
