Lady Cats Fall, 82-62, to Glenville State

Sheena Aden (Sandy Lake, Pa.) collected team-highs of 21 points and nine rebounds, but the Lady Cat basketball team was not able to overcome a 12-point halftime deficit and suffered an 82-62 loss to Glenville State (WV) College, Monday evening in the Sports Center. With the loss, Pitt Johnstown had it three-game winning streak snapped and fell to 8-12 overall and 7-6 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Pioneers broke open a two-point lead with a 29-19 over the final 13:25 of the first half to take a 43-31 halftime lead. Glenville State extended its lead 22 points with 14:59 to play, before going on to the 20-point win.
Aden finished the night shooting 8-16 from the field and 5-6 from the free-throw line, while Lindsay Cale (Hummelstown, Pa.) added 14 points on 5-13 shooting and 4-5 from the charity stripe to account for the only other Lady Cat to score in double figures. Chrissy Forster (Lewisberry, Pa.) and Andrea Dalton (Washington, Pa.) each scored nine points and dished out four assists for Head Coach Sasha Palmer's Lady Cats in the loss.
Pitt Johnstown struggled shooting the ball from the field, hitting just 24-69 (34.8%), including just 1-11 (9.1%) from three-point range. The Lady Pioneers shot 53.8% (28-52) from the field and 38.5% (5-13) from behind the three-point line. Glenville State also went 21-26 from the free-throw line, while Pitt Johnstown made 13 of its 17 free-throws.
Donita Adams scored a game-high 22 points and had seven rebounds to lead four Lady Pioneers who scored in double figures. Karina Kendrick added 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while Kristen Golden (11 points) and Mallory Menendez (10 points) also scored in double figures to help Glenville State improve to 10-10 overall and 8-5 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats travel to WVIAC rivals Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University on Thursday and West Virginia State University on Saturday, before returning home to host West Liberty State (WV) College on Monday, as part of a WVIAC doubleheader with the Mountain Cats. The Lady Cats will play West Liberty State at 5:30 p.m., with the men's game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
