Lady Cats Suffer 74-62 Loss at Wheeling Jesuit

Chrissy Forster (Lewisberry, Pa.) scored 17 points and dished out five assists, but Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University broke open a three-point halftime lead and dealt the Lady Cats a 74-62 road loss Thursday evening. With the loss, Head Coach Sasha Palmer's Lady Cats slipped to 8-13 overall and 7-7 in the WVIAC.
The Cardinals opened up a 39-36 halftime lead, despite Lindsay's Cale's (Hummelstown, Pa.) 12 first half points on 5-9 shooting from the field, including a pair of three-pointers. Wheeling Jesuit kept the pressure on in the second half and outscored the Lady Cats 35-26 en route to the 12-point victory. Pitt Johnstown shot just 27.3% in the second half after connecting on 62.5% in the first half.
Forster's 17 points on 6-9 shooting from the field and four three-pointers led three Pitt Johnstown players who scored in double figures. Cale finished with 14 points, while freshman Sheena Aden (Sandy Lake, Pa.) added 14 points, three rebounds and three assists. Coach Palmer also got eight points from Krista Britcher (Johnstown, Pa.) and six points, four rebounds and a game-high six assists from Jill Maurer (Johnstown, Pa.) in the loss.
The Lady Cats ended the night shooting 42.1% (24-57) from the field, 47.4% (9-19) from three-point range and 62.5% (5-8) from the free-throw line. The Cardinals shot a solid 30-56 (53.6%) from the field and 12-17 (70.6%) from the charity stripe.
Lindsay Stuckey's game-high 23 points on 10-14 shooting led the way for Wheeling Jesuit. Megan O'Donnell (12 points) and Rachel Thomas (10 points) also scored in double figures to help the Cardinals improve to 6-15 overall and 5-9 in conference play.
The Lady Cats travel to West Virginia State University on Saturday, before returning home to host West Liberty State (WV) College on Monday, as part of a WVIAC doubleheader with the Mountain Cats. The Lady Cats will play West Liberty State at 5:30 p.m., with the men's game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
