Lady Cat Basketball Suffers, 79-42, Loss to #7 Glenville State at Kutztown Golden Bear Classic

Head Coach Jodi Gault and the Lady Cats opened the 2006-07 season with a 79-42 loss to #7 Glenville State (WV) College in Friday's First Round of the Kutztown University Golden Bear Classic. Senior guard Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.) led Pitt Johnstown with 14 points. The Lady Cats will play Kutztown in Saturday's consolation game at 2:00 p.m.
Along with Krischer's 14 points, Pitt Johnstown got nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds from senior forward Jessica Zapf (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and four points and 10 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end, from red-shirt junior forward Sarah Priest (Johnstown, Pa.). Zapf's 11 rebounds moved her into 14th place on the Lady Cat All-Time Rebounding List with 621. She is now 19 rebounds behind Lynne Ashbridge (1986-90) for 13th place on the list
The Lady Cats struggled from the field, shooting 25.0% (15-60) for the game, while the Pioneers shot 50.0% (31-62)from the field. Glenville State connected on 11-21 from three-point range and held Pitt Johnstown to just 4-17 from behind the three-point arc. The Lady Cats were also 8-19 (42.1%) from the free-throw line.
Glenville State was led by Rachel Redick's 20 points. Lauren Strong added 13 points and Casey Taylor chipped in 12 points to finish out the double digit scorers for the Pioneers, who are now 1-0 on year.
