Lady Cats Defeat Hosts in Consolation Game of Kutztown Golden Bear Classic; Allison Krischer Earns All-Classic Team

Senior forward Jessica Zapf Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored 19 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds, and senior guard Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.) added a game-high 22 points to lead Head Coach Jodi Gault's Lady Cats to a 65-56 win over the host school in Saturday's Consolation Game of the 2006 Kutztown University Golden Bear Classic. Pitt Johnstown evened its record at 1-1. Krischer was also named to the All-Classic team.
Krischer connected on 7-15 from the field, including 3-7 from behind the three-point line and dished out a game-high four assists, while Zapf finished 6-12 from the floor and 7-19 from the free-throw line to lead Pitt Johnstown. Coach Gault also got 10 points from sophomore guard/forward Lindsay Cale (Hummelstown, Pa.) and 10 rebounds from red-shirt junior forward Sarah Priest (Johnstown, Pa.). Senior guard/forward Jami Oaks (South Fork, Pa.) chipped in eight points and six rebounds in the victory.
The Lady Cats, who held a 28-21 halftime lead, shot 42.6% (20-47) from the field and connected on 22 free-throws, while holding the Golden Bears to just 32.7% shooting (17-52) and 13-20 from the free-throw line. The Lady Cats also held a 42-28 advantage in rebounding.
Vivian Melvin's 12 points and Lara Dellegrotti's 10 points led the way for Kutztown, now 1-2 on the season.
Pitt Johnstown will make its 2006-07 home debut when it hosts Millersville University on Sunday, November 26 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
