Lindsay Cale Scores Career-High 21 Points, But Lady Cats Fall at Ohio Valley

Sophomore guard/forward Lindsay Cale (Hummelstown, Pa.) scored a career-high 21 points to lead all scorers, but the Lady Cat basketball team was not able to overcome a poor shooting day and fell, 57-50, at Ohio Valley (WV) University, Saturday afternoon. Head Coach Jodi Gault's team is now 3-2 on the season.
The Lady Cats shot just 16-52 (30.8%) from the field, including 2-17 (11.8%) from behind the three-point line. Pitt Johnstown was also 16-24 (66.7%) from the free-throw line. Ohio Valley struggled from the field as well, but the Pioneers connected on eight three-pointers and made nine of their 12 free-throws. The Pioneers finished the day shooting just 32.3% (20-62) from the field. The Lady Cats, who led 22-19 at halftime and out rebounded Ohio Valley, 47-38, for the game, also committed 25 turnovers.
Cale ended the afternoon shooting 5-12 from the field and 5-5 from the free-throw line. Cale also made a pair of three-pointers and grabbed five rebounds. Senior forward Jessica Zapf (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added 14 points and eight rebounds before fouling out. Senior guards Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.) and Chelsea McKinney (St. Petersburg, Pa.) each had five points, while Krischer pulled down five rebounds and red-shirt junior forward Sarah Priest (Johnstown, Pa.) had eight rebounds to tie Zapf for team-high honors.
Natasha Holloway scored 15 points and had seven rebounds to lead Ohio Valley. Brittany Brooks (13 points) and Stephanie Blanc (12 points) also scored in double figures. Jayne Davis grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for the Pioneers, now 2-3 on the year.
The Lady Cats travel to Clarion University on Wednesday, before hosting Slippery Rock University on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Point Park University on Sunday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m.
