Lady Cats Roll Over Davis & Elkins for Seventh Straight Win

Lindsay Cale (Hummelstown, Pa.) and Sheena Aden (Sandy Lake, Pa.) each scored 20 points, and Kaitlin Urban (Johnstown, Pa.) added a career-high 18 points to lead the Lady Cat basketball team to a 91-46 win over Davis & Elkins (WV) College, Thursday night in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown made it seven straight wins to improve to 8-5 overall and tighten its grip on first place in the WVIAC standings with a 6-0 mark.
Cale scored 10 points in the first 9:45 of the game to help the Lady Cats open up a 21-10 lead. Davis & Elkins cut the deficit to 21-16 two minutes later on two free-throws and a pair of layups by Courtney Bunner, but Pitt-Johnstown used a 20-7 run of its own over the remaining 9:17 of the first half to increase the lead to 41-23 at halftime.
It was more of the same for the Lady Cats in the second half. Urban's back-to-back three-pointers at the 12:05 and 11:24 marks of the second half put Pitt-Johnstown up 67-36. The Lady Cats extended the advantage to 47 points on Andrea Dalton's (Washington, Pa.) layup with 1:55 remaining before cruising to the 45-point victory.
Cale and Aden each scored 20 points and combined to shoot 17-27 from the field. Cale added two three-pointers, five rebounds and a game-high seven assists, while Aden pulled down eight rebounds and dished out four assists. Urban finished the night with 18 points on 6-14 shooting from the field, 4-12 from three-point range and 2-2 from the free-throw line. Head coach Sasha Palmer also got 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds off the bench from Monae Baker (Bushkill, Pa.) and nine points and eight rebounds from Dalton. Qiuana Brown (Monroeville, Pa.) tallied eight points and seven rebounds, while Sara Trimarco (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) chipped in four rebounds and six assists in the win.
The Lady Cats shot 50.7% (38-75) from the field and dominated the boards, out rebounding the Senators 49-34. Pitt-Johnstown also connected on eight three-pointers and 7-8 from the free-throw line. Davis & Elkins, which committed 24 turnovers, was held to just 29.5% shooting for the game, including 4-24 from behind the three-point line.
Bunner's 12 points led Davis & Elkins. Teonna Jewell had 11 points and five rebounds, and Lindsay Holliday had 10 points for the Senators, who fell to 3-7 overall and 2-3 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats host a WVIAC doubleheader in the Sports Center against Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College Saturday evening in the Sports Center. The Lady Cats will tip-off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
