Lady Cats Earn 76-54 Win at Converse College

Senior center Samantha Conner (Everett, Pa.) scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead three Lady Cats who scored in double figures in a 76-54 win at Converse (S.C.) College, Sunday afternoon. With the victory, Head Coach Jodi Gault's Lady Cats improved to 17-7 on the season.
Conner connected on eight of her 11 shots from the field and all four of her free-throws, while junior guard Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.) scored 16 points, including four three-pointers, and grabbed a game-high and career-high 10 rebounds. Junior forward Jessica Zapf (Pittsburgh, Pa.) rounded out the double figure scorers with 15 points on 4-6 shooting from the field and 7-10 from the free-throw line. Zapf also had eight rebounds. Junior forward Jami Oaks (South Fork, Pa.) followed up her 23-point performance at Anderson (S.C.) College on Saturday with nine points on Sunday. Senior guard Jaclyn Schirf (Loretto, Pa.) scored seven points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out a game-high six assists in the win over Converse.
The Lady Cats, who built a 45-29 halftime lead, shot 46.2% (24-52) from the field, 35.7% (5-14) from three-point range and 79.3% (23-29) from the free-throw line, while holding Converse to just 28.6% (16-56) from the field and 26.3% (5-19) from behind the three-point line. Pitt Johnstown also out-rebounded Converse, 41-31, and forced 15 turnovers.
Blake Hallman's 17 points and Lauren Mueller's 13 points and six rebounds led Converse, which fell to 4-22 on the year.
The Lady Cats travel to Bloomsburg University on Saturday, before returning home to host Shepherd (WV) University on Monday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
