Allison Krischer Scores 1,000th Point as Lady Cats Defeat West Liberty State, 85-84

Senior guard Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.) scored 23 points to become the Lady Cats' 30th 1,000-point scorer in an exciting, 85-84, win over East Region #8 West Liberty State (WV) College, Wednesday evening in the Sports Center. The Lady Cats, ranked #7 in the East Region, have won nine of their last 10 games and improved to 12-4.
Krischer, who entered the game three points shy of 1,000, made a lay-up at the 13:49 mark of the first half to reach the milestone. Krischer currently ranks 29th on the Lady Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,020 career points. Krischer ended the night 9-16 from the field, 2-3 from three-point range and 3-4 from the free-throw line.
Krischer scored 23 points, but senior forward Jessica Zapf (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and sophomore forward Lindsay Cale (Hummelstown, Pa.) tied for game-high with 25 points apiece. Zapf was 8-11 from the field and 9-10 from the free-throw line, while Cale ended 10-13 from the field, 2-2 from behind the three-point line and 3-4 from the free-throw line. Zapf also grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds, and Cale chipped in three rebounds, four assists and two steals in the victory.
With her 25 points, Zapf now ranks 21st on the Lady Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,075 points and tied for seventh on the Lady Cat All-Time Rebounding List with 755 rebounds.
The Lady Cats got the job done on the offensive end by shooting season-bests of 62.5% (30-48) from the field and 83.3% (5-6) from three-point range. Pitt Johnstown also connected on 83.3% (20-24) from the free-throw line. West Liberty State was 33-67 (49.3%) from the field, 14-35 (40.0%) from behind the three-point line and 4-6 from the free-throw line.
Pitt Johnstown built a 39-28 halftime lead, but the Hilltoppers battled back to tie the game the game with a 13-2 run in the first three minutes of the second half. West Liberty State then took a 76-74 lead with 3:02 to play, but the Lady Cats clawed back into the lead and made three of their four free-throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
West Liberty State, the nation's #2-ranked team in three-point field goals made per game, got 20 points from Renee Farina, 19 points from Lena Kalvans and 13 points from Charity Street. Kalvans also pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds for the Hilltoppers, now 11-5 on the season.
Pitt Johnstown will host West Virginia State University on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to the University of the District of Columbia on Monday.
