Lady Cats Earn 66-58 Win at Salem International on Saturday

The Lady Cat basketball team made it five straight wins with a 66-58 road win at Salem International (WV) University Saturday evening. Senior forward Melissa Patterson (Alexandria, Pa.) scored a game-high 22 points and sophomore guard Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.) added 14 points to lead the way for the Lady Cats, who improved to 5-1 on the season..
Patterson finished 10-22 from the field with five rebounds, while Krischer was 5-6 from the fireld with a pair of three-point field goals and three rebounds. Head Coach Jodi Gault also got eight points each from junior guard Jaclyn Schirf (Loretto, Pa.), junior center Samantha Conner (Everett, Pa.) and red-shirt sophomore forward Shannon Reigh (Williamsburg, Pa.). Conner pulled down a team-high five rebounds and was 6-6 from the free-throw line and sophomore forward Jessica Zapf (Pittsburgh, Pa.) chipped in six points on 3-4 shooting and five rebounds.
The Lady Cats, who build a 30-24 halftime lead, shot 54.2% (26-48) from the field for the game, including 61.9% (13-21) in the second half, while holding Salem International to just 40.0 (20-50) for the game. Pitt Johnstown outrebounded the Tigers 27-23 and forced 14 Salem International turnovers.
Keisha Box led Salem International with 21 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Kristen Self and Jody Green each scored 11 points, and Ashley Hammersley had five rebounds for the Tigers, who dropped to 4-2 on the year.
