Women's Soccer Suffers 1-0 Loss to Shippensburg

Head coach Jim Herlinger's Lady Cat soccer team battled Shippensburg University, ranked #8 in this week's NSCAA Division II Atlantic Region Poll, but was not able to overcome a second half goal and suffered a 1-0 home loss, Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, Pitt-Johnstown fell to 2-5-0.
Amanda Greenawalt took a rebound off of Lady Cat goalkeeper Stephanie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) and found the back of the net in the 47th minute to break a scoreless tie and lead the Red Raiders to the 1-0 victory.
Paha faced 14 Shippensburg shots and made eight saves, but took the loss and fell to 2-3-0 on the season. Beth Long made four saves and earned the shutout in goal for Shippensburg. Long improved to 7-3-0.
Pitt-Johnstown had 11 shots, including four shots on-goal.
With the victory, the Red Raiders raised their record to 7-3-0.
The Lady Cats travel to Shepherd (WV) University for a WVIAC match on Friday, before hosting Gannon University in a non-conference match on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
