Lady Cat Soccer Falls 1-0 at Shepherd

09/26/2008

The Lady Cat soccer team traveled to WVIAC rival Shepherd (WV) University Friday afternoon looking to snap a three-match losing skid, but it wasn't to be, as the Rams dealt Pitt-Johnstown its second straight 1-0 loss. The Lady Cats are now 2-6-0 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play.
Shepherd tallied the lone goal of the match when Brianna Hines took Kathleen Bryant's cross and headed it past Lady Cat goalkeeper Stephanie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) in the 37th minute.
Paha saw 10 Rams' shots and made three saves, but suffered the loss and dropped to 2-4-0. Pitt-Johnstown got six shots, including two on-goal, against Shepherd goalkeeper Lauren Vetock, but was not able to find the back of the net. Vetock made a pair of saves in the shutout victory.
With the win, Shepherd improved to 5-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats host NSCAA Atlantic Region #6 Gannon University in a non-conference match on Sunday at 2:00 p.m and West Virginia Wesleyan College for a WVIAC match on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
