#21 Mercyhurst Too Much For Lady Cat Soccer

#21-ranked Mercyhurst College scored five goals in the final 25 minutes to break open a 1-0 match and hand the Lady Cat soccer team a 6-0 setback, Monday afternoon. With the loss, head coach Jim Herlinger's Pitt-Johnstown team slipped to 0-2-0.
The Lakers held a 1-0 halftime lead after Sarah Powell's goal in the 32nd minute. The score remained the same until the 58th minute when Taylor Hilinski scored her first of two straight goals in less than three minutes. Mercyhurst then added three more goals in the final 21 minutes to set the final score at 6-0.
Lady Cat freshman goalkeeper Aubrey Mauger (North Huntingdon, Pa.) suffered the loss and fell to 0-2-0 after giving up all six goals. Mauger faced 31 Lakers' shots and made eight saves.
Pitt-Johnstown was able to get just six shots and one shot on-goal. Junior forward Alicia Zack (Irwin, Pa.) had three of the Lady Cats' shots and their lone shots on-goal.
Mercyhurst's Rebecca Heintzman and Rachel Griepsma combined in goal to secure the shutout and help the Lakers improve to 2-0-0.
The Lady Cats are scheduled to kick-off the WVIAC schedule at home against Salem International (WV) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., before hosting Lake Erie (OH) College on Wednesday, September 10 at 4:00 p.m.
