Lady Cat Soccer Rolls to 8-0 Win Over Salem Int'l. in WVIAC Opener

The Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team outshot Salem International (WV) University 73-0, and junior midfielder Kristin Kelly (Bethel Park, Pa.) scored three goals and had two assists in the Lady Cats' 8-0 WVIAC opening win on Saturday. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 1-2-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play.
The Lady Cats broke open a 2-0 halftime lead with six goals in the second half. Along with Kelly's performance, freshman Laura Hoehn (Braddock Hills, Pa.) collected her first two collegiate goals. Sophomore Brittney Miller (Slippery Rock, Pa.) chipped in a goal and three assists, and junior Alicia Zack (Irwin, Pa.) had a goal and three assists. Head coach Jim Herlinger also got a goal from junior midfielder Lindsay Plowman (Kiski, Pa.) in the lopsided victory.
Pitt-Johnstown came away with 73 shots and 26 shots on goal, while holding the Tigers without a shot in 90 minutes of action.
Lady Cat sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) earned the win and improved to 1-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play. Salem International goalkeeper Erin Smith made 18 saves but suffered the loss and fell to 0-1-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats host Lake Erie (OH) College on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m., before traveling to Lock Haven University on Monday, September 15.
