Lady Cat Soccer Falls to Davis & Elkins

Davis & Elkins (WV) College got goals from Emma Davis and Cole Dant less than a minute apart early in the match on its way to handing the Lady Cat soccer team a 4-0 WVIAC loss, Saturday at the Point Stadium. With the loss, Pitt-Johntown slipped to 1-8-0, 1-4-0 in the WVIAC.
Davis opened the scoring for the Senators off of Julia Rivers' cross into the box in the 16th minute, before Dant made it 2-0 50 seconds later when she took a rebound off of Lady Cat goalkeeper Timi Shiock (Punxsutawney, Pa.) and found the back of the net.
Dant notched her second goal of the match and made it 3-0 off of a penalty kick behind new Lady Cat goalkeeper Victoria Der Vanik (Bridgeville, Pa.) in the 56th minute.
Eleven minutes later, Sarah Fyock got her own rebound and scored to build the lead to 4-0.
Shiock and Der Vanik each played 45 minutes in goal for the Lady Cats and each surrendered two goals. Shiock made five saves, but took the loss, and Der Vanik made four saves. Ashley Winkelspech earned the shutout in goal for Davis & Elkins. Winkelspech saw 13 Pitt-Johnstown shots and made six saves.
With the win, Davis & Elkins improved to 3-5-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the WVIAC.
Pitt-Johnstown is scheduled to host a non-conference match against Salem International (WV) University on Tuesday at 2 p.m., before traveling to the University of Charleston (WV) for a WVIAC match on Sunday.
