Lady Cat Soccer Suffers 6-0 Loss at Alderson-Broaddus

Kasie Shoemaker scored a pair of goals to help Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College deal the Lady Cat soccer team a 6-0 WVIAC loss, Saturday afternoon in Philippi, W.Va. Victoria Der Vanik (Bridgeville, Pa.) made 12 saves for Pitt-Johnstown, now 2-10-0 overall and 1-6-0 in the WVIAC.
Olivia Augustine opened the scoring for the Battlers in the fourth minute. Shoemaker made it 2-0 10 minutes later, before Alderson-Broaddus took a 3-0 halftime advantage on Chelsea Gilliam's goal in the 30th minute.
Three more goals by the Battlers in the second half, including Shoemaker's second of the match, set the final at 6-0.
Der Vanik surrendered all six goals for the Lady Cats. She faced 24 shots and made 12 saves. Kate Laird earned the shutout for Alderson-Broaddus after seeing just four shots and making one save.
With the victory, Alderson-Broaddus improved to 7-5-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats travel to a WVIAC match at Seton Hill University on Tuesday, before hosting non-conference matches against Salem International (WV) University on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Point Stadium and Westminster College on Monday, October 24.
