Lady Cat Soccer Defeats Salem Int'l., 2-0

10/19/2011

Emily Brady (Donegal, Pa.) and Chelsea Miller (North Huntingdon, Pa.) each scored goals to lead the Lady Cat soccer team to a 2-0 non-conference victory over Salem International (WV) University, Wednesday afternoon at Johnstown's Point Stadium. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 3-11-0.
Brady gave the Lady Cats a 1-0 lead when she took Khellya Okunor-Osei (Rosedale, MD) cross in the box and beat Salem International goalkeeper Whitney Brydge in the 17th minute.
Less than two minutes into the second half, Miller scored off of Lisa Mix's (Framingham, MA) deflection to increase the lead to 2-0.
That was all Lady Cat goalkeeper Rebekah Schultz (Allison Park, Pa.) would need. Schultz saw eight Salem International shots and made three saves on her way to earning the shutout and her first collegiate win. Brydge faced 32 Pitt-Johnstown shots and made 13 saves for the Tigers.
With the loss, Salem International fell to 2-10-0 on the year.
The Lady Cats wrap-up the 2011 season with Senior Day WVIAC match against Shepherd (WV) University on Wednesday.
