Women's Soccer Rolls, 10-0, Over Salem Int'l. in Season Opener

Head Coach Crystal Dye's (3rd year) Pitt Johnstown women's soccer team scored five first half goals en route to a 10-0 pounding of visiting Salem International (WV) University in Saturday's season and WVIAC opener. Sophomore forward Alicia Zack (Irwin, Pa.) scored a hat trick and Kristin Kelly (Bethel Park, Pa.) and Hailey Coons (Shippensburg, Pa.) added two goals apiece.
Freshman midfielder Brittany Pryde (Fairhope, Pa.) got Pitt Johnstown on the scoreboard just 15 minutes into the match off of Zack's assist, before fellow freshman Lauren Penn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored seven minutes later. Pitt Johnstown increased the lead to 5-0 at halftime with a pair goals from Zack and one from Kelly.
The scoring continued in the second half. Zack completed her hat trick with a goal in the 53rd minute, and freshman midfielder Alissa Falcone (Murrysville, Pa.) made it 7-0 in the 67th minute. Coons tallied back-to-back goals in the 74th and 82nd minutes, before Kelly set the final score at 10-0 with her second goal of the match in the 84th minute.
Pitt Johnstown red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) faced just one shot and made one save in 65 minutes of action to earn the win and improve to 1-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the WVIAC.
With the loss, Salem International dropped to 0-2-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the conference.
Pitt Johnstown will host Seton Hill University on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in another WVIAC conference match, before hosting a non-conference match against Point Park University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
