09/04/2007

Pitt Johnstown sophomore midfielder Kristin Kelly (Bethel Park, Pa.) netted a pair of goals to lead Head Coach Drystal Dye's women's soccer team to a 3-0 home shutout over WVIAC rival Seton Hill University, Tuesday afternoon. With the win, Pitt Johnstown posted its second straight shutout and improved to 2-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the WVIAC.
It didn't take long for Pitt Johnstown to put this match away. Freshman forward Emily Bashore (Millersburg, Pa.) took a pass from Alicia Zack (Irwin, Pa.) and beat Seton Hill goalkeeper Sam Gilarski in the sixth minute. Less than three minutes later, Kelly scored her first goal off of a blast from outside the box to put Pitt Johnstown up 2-0.
The score stayed the same until the 85th minute when Alissa Falcone (Murrysville, Pa.) set up Kelly for her second goal. Kelly took Falcone's indirect kick and found the back of the net for her fourth of the season and set the final score at 3-0.
Red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Stepahnie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) earned the shutout and improved to 2-0-0. Paha faced five shots and made two saves for Pitt Johnstown, which outshot the Griffins, 15-5 and held a 10-2 advantage in shots-on-goal.
With the loss, Seton Hill fell to 1-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the WVIAC.

Pitt Johnstown will host a non-conference match against Point Park University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., before hosting Shepherd (WV) University in a WVIAC conference match on Wednesday, September 12 at 4:00 p.m.
