10/06/2007

Davis & Elkins (WV) College broke open a 1-0 lead with a pair of goals in the second half to hand the Pitt Johnstown women's soccer team a 3-1 loss, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Pitt Johnstown fell to 6-7-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the WVIAC.
After battling the Senators in a 1-0 match in the first half, Pitt Johnstown surrendered two more goals in the second half, before freshman forward Emily Bashore (Millersburg, Pa.) found the back of the net for her third goal of the year to cut the deficit to 3-1. However, that was as close as Pitt Johnstown would get, as Davis & Elkins held on for the 3-1 win.
Pitt Johnstown red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) gave up one goal, and freshman goalkeeper Brittany Pryde (Fairhope, Pa.) allowed two second half goals to suffer the loss. Pryde is now 2-3-0 on the season.
With the victory, the Senators improved to 7-7-0 overall and 5-3-0 in the WVIAC.
Pitt Johnstown hosts Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University for a WVIAC conference match on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m., before traveling to Salem International (WV) University for another conference match on Thursday.
