Lady Cat Soccer Falls to Lock Haven, 3-1

10/19/2010

Kelsey Richardson (Scottdale, Pa.) scored her first goal of the season, but the Lady Cat soccer team wasn't able to battle back from a 3-0 second half deficit and suffered a 3-1 non-conference loss to Lock Haven University, Tuesday night at Richland High School's Herlinger Field. Pitt-Johnstown dropped to 1-11-0 on the year.
Lock Haven took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break when Bree Orth scored off of a free kick in the 42nd minute. The Bald Eagles then got goals from Alissa Gamelier in the 63rd minute and Madison Taylor 11 minutes later to extend the lead to 3-0 with 16 minutes to play.
Richardson scored on Laura Hoehn's (Braddock Hills, Pa.) pass into the box for Pitt-Johnstown to cut it 3-1 in the 84th minute, but that was as close as the Lady Cats would get.
Victoria Der Vanik (Bridgeville, Pa.) faced 24 shots and made nine saves for Pitt-Johnstown. Hayley Zinn saw four shots from Pitt-Johnstown and made thre saves for Lock Haven.
With the win, the Bald Eagles improved to 6-7-2.
The Lady Cats travel to Lincoln University for a non-conference match on Saturday, before traveling to Shepherd (WV) University for a WVIAC match on Wednesday, October 27.
