10/27/2010

Lindsay Roessler's (Chalfont, Pa.) goal in the 75th minute proved to be the game-winner in a 1-0 Lady Cat soccer victory at WVIAC rival Shepherd (WV) University, Wednesday afternoon. Pitt-Johnstown made two consecutive wins and improved to 3-11-0 overall and 2-6-0 in the WVIAC.
Roessler took a cross from Hannah LaSota (Patton, Pa.) with 15 minutes left in regulation and beat Shepherd goalkeeper Tessa Jones to lead the Lady Cats to the victory.
Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Victoria Der Vanik (Bridgeville, Pa.) faced 13 shots and made four saves to earn the shutout. Jones saw eight Lady Cat shots, made five saves, but surrendered the match's lone goal.
With the loss, the Rams fell to 3-12-0 overall and 1-7-0 in conference play.
The Lady Cats return home to host WVIAC rival Seton Hill University for Senior Day on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before finishing the 2010 season at Saint Vincent College on November 3.
