Women's Soccer Suffers 4-3 Loss at Shepherd

Sophomore midfielder Kristin Kelly (Bethel Park, Pa.) scored a pair of goals, but it wasn't enough, as the Pitt Johnstown women's soccer team surrendered four goals to Jennifer Hoffman in a 4-3 loss at Shepherd (WV) University, Wednesday afternoon. Pitt Johnstown is now 7-10-0 overall and 3-7-0 in the WVIAC.
Freshman midfielder Lauren Penn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) gave Pitt Johnstown a 1-0 lead with a goal in the fourth minute. Hoffman answered with her first two goals of the match in the 17th and 27th minutes to give the Rams a 2-1 lead, before Kelly found the back of the net in the 41st minute to even the score, 2-2, at halftime.
Head Coach Crystal Dye's team regained the lead on Kelly's second goal two minutes into the second half. However, Hoffman scored in the 48th and 59th minutes to set the final score at 4-3 in favor of Shepherd.
Pitt Johnstown red-shirt goalkeeper Stephanie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) faced 12 shots and made four saves, but took the loss and dropped to 5-7-0. Shepherd got seven saves from goalkeeper Amy Bell in the victory.
The Rams improved to 5-10-1 overall and 4-7-0 in WVIAC play.
Pitt Johnstown will host it's final home match of the 2007 season against WVIAC rival Ohio Valley (WV) University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., before wrapping up the regular season with WVIAC road matches at Seton Hill University on Monday and the University of Charleston (WV) on Wednesday.
