Cross Country Finishes 9th at WVIAC Championships

Stella Sergeyev (Lancaster, Pa.) placed 23rd to lead the Lady Cat cross country team to a ninth-place finish at the season-ending 2012 WVIAC Championships on Saturday at Seton Hill University. Seton Hill's Jeannie Bujdos earned medalist honors with a time of 22:05, but Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University claimed the conference championship in the 12-team field.
Sergeyev finished 23rd in the 100-runner field with a time of 25:06 to pace Pitt-Johnstown. Sasha Peterman (Altoona, Pa.) was 40th (25:57), and Victoria Rizzuto (York, Pa.) placed 56th (26:58). Rachel Rajter (Johnstown, Pa.) and Marissa Albert (Philipsburg, Pa.) finished 61st (27:32) and 72nd (28:28) finishes, respectively for the Lady Cats.
Wheeling Jesuit claimed the WVIAC title with 40 points, two points better than second-place Seton Hill. West Virginia Wesleyan College (70 points) was third, while Concord (WV) University (132 points) and Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College (144 points) rounded out the top-five in the 12-team field. Pitt-Johnstown was ninth with 233 points.
