Volleyball Falls at Fairmont State in Regular Season Finale

Jessica Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.) had a career-high 25 kills, but Fairmont State (WV) University scored the final two points in the fifth set to earn 15-13 win and lead the Falcons to a 3-2 victory over the Lady Cat volleyball team, Saturday night in Fairmont, WV. Pitt-Johnstown ended the regular season with a 12-11 overall record and an 8-6 mark in the WVIAC.
Fairmont State defeated the Lady Cats 25-16, 20-25, 25-20, 16-25, 15-13.
Heidenthal finished with 25 kills, two service aces, and 14 digs, while Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) had 16 kills and 10 digs.
Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) led Pitt-Johnstown with 25 set assists. Taylor King (York, Pa.) chipped in 22 assists, and Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) had a team-high 27 digs.
Head Coach Linda Renzi also got four block solos and two block assists from Beth Kendera (Johnstown, Pa.) and one block solo and three block assists from Kayla Brandle (Johnstown, Pa.) in the loss.
With the victory, Fairmont State improved to 19-9 overall and 12-2 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats will open the 2010 WVIAC Tournament on Thursday at the Catholic Sports Complex in Charleston, WV.
