Lady Cat Volleyball Sweeps Mount Aloysius

Jessica Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.) collected nine kills to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to a 25-18, 25-20, 25-11 non-conference sweep over Mount Aloysius College in Wednesday's 2011 home opener in the Sports Center. With the win, Pitt-Johnstown improved to 2-8.
Along with her nine kills, Heidenthal also had a block solo and a block assist. Tayler Vebares (Red Lion, Pa.) and Beth Kendera (Johnstown, Pa.) each had five kills, while Ashley Dirado (Greensburg, Pa.) and Kelsey Shanabrook (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) had four kills apiece. Dirado had four block solos and a pair of block assists, and Kendera chipped in three block solos and two block assists.
Nikki Oakes (Pittsburgh, Pa.) led the way with 15 set assists and nine digs. Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) added 12 assists, and Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) tallied a team-high 16 digs.
With the loss, Mount Aloysius dropped to 2-4.
The Lady Cats host a WVIAC match against Glenville State (WV) College on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to conference matches at Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College on Sept. 23 and Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Sept. 24.
