Volleyball Falls in Five Games to Alderson-Broaddus

Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had 14 kills to lead four Lady Cats who finished with double-digit kills, but Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College battled back from a 2-0 deficit to hand the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team a 3-2 home loss, Friday night. The Lady Cats, who played at Richland High School due to Homecoming activities in the Sports Center, dropped to 2-9 overall and 0-4 in the WVIAC.
After winning the first two games 26-24 and 25-19, Pitt-Johnstown suffered 16-25, 16-25, 13-15 losses.

Along with her 14 kills, Irwin also had one block solo and four block assists, while Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) added 13 kills, 15 digs, one block solo and one block assist. Ashley Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) collected 12 kills, three block solos and one block assist, and Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.) chipped in 11 kills, six assists, a block solo and a block assist.
Taylor King (York, Pa.) led Pitt-Johnstown with 25 set assists and 15 digs. Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) had 22 assists, while Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) and Kimberly Shubra (Penn Run, Pa.) each had 14 digs in the loss.
Alderson-Broaddus improved to 7-8 overall and stayed unbeaten in the WVIAC at 3-0.
The Lady Cats will host WVIAC matches against Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Richland High School and Fairmont State (WV) University on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
