Volleyball Suffers 3-2 Loss to Davis & Elkins

The Lady Cat volleyball team built a 2-1 lead over visiting Davis & Elkins College behind Ashley Hogan's (Northern Cambria, Pa.) 14 kills, one block solo and five block assists, Saturday afternoon at Richland High School, but the Senators roared back to earn a 3-2 victory. Pitt-Johnstown dropped to 2-10 overall and 0-5 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats fell 21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 6-15.
Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) added eight kills, a block solo and five block assists, while Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.) had seven kills, two block solos and six block assists. Sam Link (Ebensburg, Pa.) chipped in six kills, and Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) had six kills, five digs, two block solos and three block assists.
Pitt-Johnstown also got 15 assists from Taylor King (York, Pa.) and 11 assists and five digs from Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.). Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) and Kimberly Shubra (Penn Run, Pa.) each had eight digs, while Kayla Brandle (Johnstown, Pa.) collected a block solo and four block assists in the loss.
With the win, Davis & Elkins improved to 7-10 overall and 2-2 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats will host a WVIAC match against Fairmont State (WV) University on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to West Liberty (WV) University on Friday for another conference match.
