Women's Volleyball Falls 3-1 at Alderson-Broaddus

Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) and Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) each had eight kills, but the Lady Cat volleyball team's three-match winning streak came to an end Thursday night with a loss in four games at WVIAC rival Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College. Pitt-Johnstown is now 7-5 overall and 3-3 in WVIAC play.
The Lady Cats dropped game one 25-17, but rebounded for a 25-20 win in game two. However, the Battlers sealed the match with 25-22 and 25-14 victories in games three and four.
Along with Hrescak and Irwin, Head Coach Linda Renzi also got 17 and 13 assists, respectively from Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) and Taylor King (York, Pa.) and 11 digs apiece from Katie Shadron (Ligonier, Pa.) and Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.). In addition, Kayla Lape (Fishertown, Pa.) collected five kills in the loss.
With the victory, Alderson-Broaddus improved to 8-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Pitt-Johnstown returns home to begin a four-match home stretch starting with Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Sports Center. The Lady Cats will also host West Virginia Wesleyan College on Monday, Salem International (WV) Univesity on Tuesday and Ohio Valley (WV) University on Thursday. All three matches will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
